    Adero Law has filed proceedings in the Federal Court against Alinta Australia Pty Ltd (Alinta Apparel) alleging numerous breaches of the General Retail Industry Award 2020 (GRIA) and the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth). This class action has been filed on behalf of eligible staff members, and is seeking compensation for shop assistants engaged on a ‘casual’ basis who allege, in summary that

    • they were engaged under the incorrect modern award, when they ought to have been engaged and remunerated in accordance with the GRIA; and
    • they were not paid in full in accordance with the entitlements and allowances owing to them under the GRIA.
