Adero Law is taking registrations for individuals who performed work for YHA in an Australian hostel under the classification of volunteer.

Registrations of Interest are now open to individuals who performed work for YHA in an Australian hostel under the classification of Volunteer. Adero Law has conducted due diligence on similar claims and consider that workers were incorrectly classified as volunteers and should have been paid entitlements arising by operation of the YHA Ltd Enterprise Agreement 2015.

Adero Law has recently brought proceedings on behalf of an employee who was alleged to be a volunteer worker by YHA before the Federal Circuit Court of Australia.

You may be entitled to receive backpay if you performed roles in the following positions:

  1. Activities Coordinator;
  2. Night Supervisor/Night Porter;
  3. Housekeeping Supervisor/Housekeeper;
  4. Receptionist
  5. Café all-rounder;
  6. Kitchen hand;
  7. Handyperson; and
  8. Duty Manager.

The value of any potential backpay is variable and determined on hours worked, duration of engagement and other benefits you may have received whilst performing work for YHA including discounted accommodation or other services.
